About Us
Mary Nix a/k/a Petunia Garner™ never thought a character she created to get involved with a PTA Reflections event would be promoting the environment. Petunia is a fun-loving, energetic character that children and adults alike adore. Mary's first CD Petunia's Singalongable Songs contains several songs with an environmental emphasis and some that are just for giggles and kicks. Her songs are easy sing-a-longs, entertaining and educational. Mary has received many awards, including Junior Volunteer of the Year ('06) and Visionary of the Year from Keep Forsyth County Beautiful ('07) and Volunteer of the Year from the Forsyth County Board of Education ('08) for her work with schools and kids. Denise Carleton is an environmental advocate for her community and kids. She has served as an Environmental Education Committee Chair and student Green Team coordinator in both public and private schools. Denise's passion for writing and educating children is demonstrated in her storybook, The Gross Graffiti Cover-up, which has been recognized by Keep America Beautiful as an anti-graffiti educational tool. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful has awarded Denise with Volunteer of the Year ('07) and Educator of the Year ('09), and she has received recognition from the Forsyth County Board of Education and Sawnee Woman's Club for her environmental efforts in schools and the community.
